Lock Haven

Lock Haven is a city in and the county seat of Clinton CountyGR6, Pennsylvania, United States. It is the principal city of and is included in the Lock Haven, Pennsylvania Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Williamsport, Pennsylvania-Lock Haven, Pennsylvania Combined Statistical Area. In 1900, 7,210 people lived in Lock Haven, in 1910, 7,772 and in 1940, 10,810. The population was 9,149 at the 2000 census. Located in northern Pennsylvania, on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River and 24 miles west-southwest of Williamsport, the city of Lock Haven is home to Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania and the Piper Aircraft Factory. It was settled in 1769 and incorporated as a town in 1833, as a borough in 1844, and as a city in 1870.
Lock Haven is located at the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.9 square kilometers. 6.5 square kilometers of it is land and 0.4 square kilometers of it is water. In the city the population was spread out with 16.7 percent under the age of 18, 33.2 percent from 18 to 24, 20.3 percent from 25 to 44, 14.4 percent from 45 to 64, and 15.4 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 25 years. For every 100 females there were 82.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.5 males. It can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
