Lansing
The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia.
Lansing is the capital city of the U.S. state of Michigan, and is located mostly in Ingham County. A small portion of the city extends into Eaton County, and a small portion containing capital city Airport extends into adjacent Clinton County. As of the 2000 census, it has a population of 119,128 inhabitants.
Today, the city's manufacturing sector has been downsized, and the economy forced to diversify. The city's economy is now evenly split between government service, healthcare, manufacturing, and education. Lansing elevation ranges between 890 feet above sea level on the far south side of Lansing along Northrup Street near the Cedar Street intersection, to 830 feet above sea level along the Grand River.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 91.3 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 26.8 percent under the age of 18, 11.4 percent from 18 to 24, 32.7 percent from 25 to 44, 19.3 percent from 45 to 64, and 9.7 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 92.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.9 males.
Lansing is also known as the city of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
