Worcester is a municipality in the state of Massachusetts in the United States of America. In 2004, the population of the city was 175,966 and an area of 99.9 square kilometers, making it the third-largest city in New England, after Boston. It is also the second-largest city in Massachusetts and the county seat of Worcester County. In 2005, the city was the United States's 126th most populous city and is the core of the 64th most populous metropolitan area in the country.  
 
Worcester experiences a continental climate that is very common in New England. In the city the population is spread out with 23.6 percent under the age of 18, 13.3 percent from 18 to 24, 30.3 percent from 25 to 44, 18.6 percent from 45 to 64, and 14.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 92.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.7 males.
