Winston-Salem is a municipality in Forsyth County, North Carolina, United States. In 2004, the population of the city was 203,259. It is the county seat of Forsyth County, North Carolina, and the fourth-largest city in the state. Winston-Salem is a well-known municipality in the Piedmont Triad region and is home to the tallest office building in the region, the Wachovia Center.
 
Other sites of interest include the Horne Creek Historic Farm, Tanglewood Park, the SciWorks educational facility, and SECCA, the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art. In the city the population is spread out with 23.3 percent under the age of 18, 11.7 percent from 18 to 24, 30.4 percent from 25 to 44, 20.9 percent from 45 to 64, and 13.7 percent who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 88.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.2 males. Winston-Salem also has a number of universities, including Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina School of the Arts, Salem College.
