Williston

Williston is a municipality in Williams County, North Dakota in the United States. It is the county seat of Williams County. In 2000, the population of the city was 12,512 and an area of 18.2 square kilometers. Williston was founded in 1887. Williston is also the home of the Miss North Dakota Scholarship Pageant. The Williston Public School District serves the city and the surrounding rural area.
In the city the population was spread out with 25.6 percent under the age of 18, 9.3 percent from 18 to 24, 25.8 percent from 25 to 44, 22.5 percent from 45 to 64, and 16.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 91.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.3 males.
