Willimantic

Willimantic is a census-designated place and city located in the town of Windham, Connecticut in Windham County, Connecticut, United States. In 2000, the population of the city was 15,823 and an area of 11.6 square kilometers. It is home to Eastern Connecticut State University, as well as the Windham Textile and History Museum. The city was incorporated in 1893 as a section of the town of Windham.
Willimantic has also received national and international attention for its annual Boom Box Parade. In the city the population was spread out with 22.6 percent under the age of 18, 22.4 percent from 18 to 24, 27.3 percent from 25 to 44, 16.1 percent from 45 to 64, and 11.5 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 28 years. For every 100 females there were 95.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.6 males.
