In the city the population was spread out with 32.4 percent under the age of 18, 9.6 percent from 18 to 24, 25.7 percent from 25 to 44, 18.3 percent from 45 to 64, and 14.0 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 90.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.5 males.

The City of Uvalde is served by the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District. Uvalde is located at the intersection of the nation’s two longest highways, Highway 83 and Highway 90.
