Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania. The city is colloquially referred to as Philly, and known as The City of Brotherly Love. It is the fifth most populous city in the United States. Philadelphia is the second largest city on the U.S. East Coast, and a major commercial, educational, and cultural center for the nation. Philadelphia is one of the oldest and most historically significant cities in the United States.
 
Philadelphia is founded in October 27, 1682 and incorporated October 25, 1701. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 369.4 square kilometers. The population recorded in 2005 was 1,463,281 inhabitants and density is 4,201.8 per square kilometers.
 
In the city the population was spread out with 25.3 percent under the age of 18, 11.1 percent from 18 to 24, 29.3 percent from 25 to 44, 20.3 percent from 45 to 64, and 14.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 86.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.8 males.
 
Philadelphia's climate is considered to fall in the humid subtropical climate zone, although it is perhaps the northernmost city in the United States that meets this classification. Famous places in city are Independence National Historical Park, Independence Hall, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Rodin Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Benjamin Franklin National Memorial, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.
 
Philadelphia experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history.
