Irving is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas within Dallas County. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, the city population was 191,615 inhabitants. Irving is within the Dallas Plano Irving metropolitan division of the Dallas Fort Worth Arlington metropolitan area, designated by the U.S. Census Bureau and colloquially referred to as the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.
 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 175.3 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 25.2 percent under the age of 18, 11.9 percent from 18 to 24, 39.4 percent from 25 to 44, 17.4 percent from 45 to 64, and 6.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 104.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.9 males.
