Sturgis

Sturgis is a city in Meade County, South Dakota, USA. The population was 6,442 inhabitants at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Meade County. Sturgis is most famous for being the location of one of the largest annual motorcycle events in the world, usually held annually, on the first full week of August. Motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world flock to this usually sleepy town during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Sturgis is located at the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.7 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 25.0 percent under the age of 18, 7.9 percent from 18 to 24, 25.4 percent from 25 to 44, 22.5 percent from 45 to 64, and 19.3 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 91.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.1 males.
Sturgis experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people also combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in United States.
