Oxford is one of two urban centers principal cities of and included in the Anniston Oxford Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 47.4 square kilometers.
As of the census of 2000, there were 14,592 people, 5,734 households, and 4,231 families residing in the city. The population density was 308.9 per square kilometers. There points of interest include Quintard Mall, Oxford Exchange and Oxford Lake Park.
