Ottawa
The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia.
Ottawa is a city situated along the Marais des Cygnes River in the central part of Franklin County, located in east-central Kansas, in the central United States. It is Founded in 1865. The population was estimated to be 12,597 in the year 2005. It is the county seat and most populous city of Franklin County. Ottawa is included in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The population density was 688.0 per square kilometers. Ottawa adopted the commission form of government in 1913.
The Christian Munsee Indians influenced early settlement of this area. The town of Ottawa has a history of flooding due to the Marais Des Cygnes river. The city is situated along the Marais des Cygnes River. It is located 58 miles southwest of Kansas City at the junction of U.S. Route 59 and K-68. U.S. Route 50 and Interstate 35 bypass to the south of the city with the business route for US-50 passing through the city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 17.4 square kilometers.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.6 percent under the age of 18, 11.5 percent from 18 to 24, 27.7 percent from 25 to 44, 18.3 percent from 45 to 64, and 15.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 95.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.0 males. It can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
