Seattle
The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia.
Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is located in the U.S. state of Washington between Puget Sound and Lake Washington, nearly 108 miles south of the United States Canadian border in King County, of which it is the county seat.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 369.2 square kilometers. Seattle is also the northernmost located major city in the contiguous 48 states. Seattle is located between Puget Sound, an inlet of the Pacific Ocean, and Lake Washington. West beyond the Sound are the Olympic Mountains, east beyond Lake Washington and the Eastside suburbs are Lake Sammamish, the Newcastle Hills, and the Cascade Range. As of 2006, the city had an estimated population of 578,700 inhabitants and a metropolitan population of 3.8 million inhabitants. Seattle is the hub for the Greater Puget Sound region.
