Scottsbluff is a municipality in Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska, United States. In 2000, the population of the city was 14,732 and an area of 15.4 square kilometers. Scottsbluff is the biggest city in Scotts Bluff County and the 12th largest city in Nebraska. Scottsbluff was founded in 1900 across the North Platte River from its namesake, a bluff which is now a National Park called Scotts Bluff National Monument.
 
In the city the population was spread out with 26.5 percent under the age of 18, 9.8 percent from 18 to 24, 25.2 percent from 25 to 44, 20.7 percent from 45 to 64, and 17.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 87.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.1 males. Scottsbluff is the kind of town you daydream about.
