Sarasota

Sarasota is a municipality in the central west coast of Florida, USA. Sarasota Bay and several barrier islands facing the Gulf of Mexico are within its city limits. In 2004, the population of the city was 54,349 and an area of 67.2 square kilometers. It is the county seat for Sarasota County.
In the city the population was spread out with 18.4 percent under the age of 18, 9.2 percent from 18 to 24, 27.9 percent from 25 to 44, 22.5 percent from 45 to 64, and 22.0 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males. Sarasota Bay is the region's greatest natural asset. The city is home to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport which serves both Manatee and Sarasota counties.
