Garden City is a city in Finney County, Kansas, United States. The population was 28,451 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Finney County, and provides the campus of Garden City Community College. It is also home to the largest zoological facility, Lee Richardson Zoo, in western Kansas. The community boasts more than sixty restaurants and around forty churches, which in both cases cater to a diverse and changing local population. 2006 marked the town's 80th annual Community Mexican Fiesta celebration, in honor of Mexico's independence from Spain.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 22.1 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 32.6 percent under the age of 18, 11.6 percent from 18 to 24, 31.0 percent from 25 to 44, 16.6 percent from 45 to 64, and 8.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 29 years. For every 100 females there were 102.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.6 males.

Garden City is also known as the city of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
