Fort Polk South
The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia. Fort Polk South is a census-designated place, CDP and town in Vernon Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 11,000 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 16.0 square kilometers, all land.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 33.0 percent under the age of 18, 29.3 percent from 18 to 24, 35.9 percent from 25 to 44, 1.7 percent from 45 to 64, and 0.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 22 years. For every 100 females there were 152.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 181.3 males.
Like some of its sister municipalities and towns, Fort Polk South is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in United States.
