Fort Pierce is a city in St. Lucie County, Florida, USA. The population was 37,516 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 37,959. It is the county seat of St. Lucie County.
 
Fort Pierce is located at to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 53.8 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 27.2 percent under the age of 18, 9.8 percent from 18 to 24, 26.1 percent from 25 to 44, 19.5 percent from 45 to 64, and 17.5 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 males.
 
Attraction of the city is Heathcote Botanical Gardens, Historic Main Street, St. Lucie County International Airport, Old Fort Park, and Navy UDT-SEAL Museum.
