Salisbury is a city in Rowan County in North Carolina, a state of the United States of America. The population was 26,462 in 2000. It is the county seat of Rowan County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 46.0 square kilometers.
In the city the population was spread out with 21.8 percent under the age of 18, 13.1 percent from 18 to 24, 25.0 percent from 25 to 44, 20.2 percent from 45 to 64, and 19.9 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 90.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.3 males.
