Fort Hood

Fort Hood, named after Confederate General John Bell Hood, is a U.S. Army post located outside of Killeen within the U.S. state of Texas. The main cantonment of Fort Hood is a census-designated place that as of the 2000 U.S. Census had a total population of 33,711.
Fort Hood is located at to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP, census-designated place has a total area of 38.8 square kilometers. 38.7 square kilometers of it is land and 0.1 square kilometers of it is water.
Fort Hood is located halfway between Austin and Waco, is the only two-division post in the United States, and is the home of III Corps. The two divisions on the base are the 1st Cavalry Division and the 4th Infantry Division. 4ID headquarters is scheduled to be moved to Fort Carson, Colorado.
The age distribution is 33.3 percent under the age of 18, 32.3 percent from 18 to 24, 33.1 percent from 25 to 44, 1.2 percent from 45 to 64, and 0.1 percent who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 21 years. For every 100 females there are 163.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 209.4 males. All these statistics are typical for military bases.
It can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
