The small city of New Iberia is the parish seat of Iberia Parish, in the U.S. state of Louisiana, 125 miles west of New Orleans. In 2000, the population of the city was 32,623 and an area of 27.4 square kilometers.  In the city the population was spread out with 29.8 percent under the age of 18, 9.7 percent from 18 to 24, 26.8 percent from 25 to 44, 20.4 percent from 45 to 64, and 13.3 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 87.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.6 males.
 
New Iberia was founded on the banks of Bayou Teche in 1779 by a group of Spaniards from Malaga. New Iberians enter the twenty-first century proud of their many past accomplishments, prepared to meet the challenges of the new century and devoted to the concept of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
 
New Iberia is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in United States worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of United States.
