Elizabethtown

Elizabeth is a city in Union County, New Jersey, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 120,568 inhabitants, making it New Jersey's fourth largest city. According to a 2004 census estimate, the population of Elizabeth is now 124,724 inhabitants. Elizabeth is bordered to the southwest by Linden, to the west by Roselle and Roselle Park, to the northwest by Union and Hillside, to the north by Newark and to the east by Staten Island, New York.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 35.4 square kilometers. Elizabeth was founded in 1664 by English settlers and was named for the wife of Sir George Carteret, not Queen Elizabeth I as many people assume. In the city the population was spread out with 26.3 percent under the age of 18, 10.8 percent from 18 to 24, 33.7 percent from 25 to 44, 19.3 percent from 45 to 64, and 10.0 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 98.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.1 males.
Elizabeth is also known as the city of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
