Lewistown is a municipality in Fergus County, Montana, United States. In 2000, the population of the city was 5,813 and an area of 4.9 square kilometers. It is the county seat of Fergus County. Lewistown is located in central Montana, southeast of Great Falls. In the city the population was spread out with 23.5 percent under the age of 18, 6.8 percent from 18 to 24, 23.2 percent from 25 to 44, 23.6 percent from 45 to 64, and 22.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 87.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.4 males.
