Clarksburg

Clarksburg is a city in Harrison County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 16,743 inhabitants at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Harrison County. Since 1979 Clarksburg has hosted the annual West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival during Labor Day weekend. Clarksburg was formed in 1785 in Virginia. The city is named for General George Rogers Clark. In 1824, Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson was born in Clarksburg.
Clarksburg is located at United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 24.7 square kilometers. Clarksburg is located in West Virginia's North-Central region. In the city the population was spread out with 21.1 percent under the age of 18, 8.3 percent from 18 to 24, 27.3 percent from 25 to 44, 22.7 percent from 45 to 64, and 20.7 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 86.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.6 males.
