DuBois

DuBois is a city in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, 206 kilometers northeast of Pittsburgh. It settled in 1873, DuBois was incorporated as a borough in 1881. While DuBois was originally founded as a lumber town, the mining of bituminous coal quickly became the chief industry in DuBois, supporting a population of 12,080 inhabitants in 1940. The population was 8,123 at the 2000 census.
DuBois is located at the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.7 square kilometers. As of the census of 2000, there were 8,123 people, 3,614 households, and 2,099 families residing in the city. The population density was 939.0 per square kilometers. There were 3,956 housing units at an average density of 457.3 per square kilometers.
In the city the population was spread out with 23.1 percent under the age of 18, 10.0 percent from 18 to 24, 26.6 percent from 25 to 44, 20.7 percent from 45 to 64, and 19.6 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 87.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.5 males.
DuBois is also known as the city of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
