Calhoun
The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia. Calhoun is a city in McLean County, Kentucky, United States. It is the county seat of McLean County. It is included in the Owensboro, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.8 square kilometers. The city was founded in the 1700 as Fort Vienna to protect a bend in the Green River and was also known as Rhoadesville at the beginning. It has been the county seat of McLean County since the county's formation in 1854. In the city the population was spread out with 18.8 percent under the age of 18, 6.8 percent from 18 to 24, 23.4 percent from 25 to 44, 22.0 percent from 45 to 64, and 28.9 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 73.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 68.9 males. Calhoun experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people also combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in United States.
