Bentonville is a city in Benton County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 19,730 at the 2000 census. According to 2006 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 29,538. Bentonville is the county seat of Benton County. The headquarters of Wal-Mart Stores, the largest retailer in the world, as well as that of the Whistler Group, a major US manufacturer of radar detectors, are located in Bentonville. Due to Wal-Mart's presence, as well as the numerous local offices of companies seeking to have Wal-Mart sell their products, the city has gained the colloquial nickname Vendorville.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 55.1 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 29.5 percent under the age of 18, 9.8 percent from 18 to 24, 34.2 percent from 25 to 44, 17.9 percent from 45 to 64, and 8.5 percent who were 65 years of age or older.
