Cumberland is a city in Cass County, Iowa, United States. The population was 281 at the 2000 census. Cumberland's sister community is Massena, Iowa. The total area of the city was 1.6 square kilometers. Cass County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. Its county seat is Atlantic, Iowa6. It was named to honor Lewis Cass, who was the 1848 Democratic nominee for President.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.6 square kilometers, all land. In the city the population was spread out with 21.0 percent under the age of 18, 4.6 percent from 18 to 24, 25.6 percent from 25 to 44, 24.9 percent from 45 to 64, and 23.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.
