Americus
The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia. Americus is a city in Lyon County, Kansas, United States. Lyon County standard abbreviation LY is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. Kansas is a Midwestern state in the Central United States. The state is named after the Kansas River that flows through it, which in turn derived its name from the Siouan word Kansa meaning people of the south winds. The population was 938 at the 2000 census. Americus is located at the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.8 square kilometers all land. In the city the population was spread out with 29.9 percent under the age of 18, 8.6 percent from 18 to 24, 28.8 percent from 25 to 44, 22.8 percent from 45 to 64, and 9.9 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 93.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.7 males. Like some of its sister municipalities and towns, Americus is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in United States.
