Timber Creek High School
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place.
Timber Creek High School is a high school located in Orlando, Florida. Their mascot is the wolf. The school's principal is John Wright. Timber Creek High School was opened in the 2000-2001 school year. Timber Creek was built to relieve overcrowding at nearby University High School. Timber Creek High School has since become the largest school in Orange County with nearly 4,200 students enrolled.
The school has a generally non-violent record, with no reported shootings or stabbings in the area. Much of the peacefulness of the school is attributed to the active administration and involvement of the teachers. Timber Creek High School offers many programs that are uncommon in the area, such as Chinese Language and Russian Language courses. Also, dual enrollment programs and cooperation from nearby University of Central Florida have helped this school become successful.
About Sports Timber Creek High School takes much pride in its football program. Timber Creek has been a major football contender in Orange County. However, Timber Creek High School has only made it to a divisional playoff once, since their division sets them playing other major playoff-contending high schools such as Apopka, Edgewater, and Lake Brantley. Timber Creek has also been successful in other sports such as Volleyball.
Timber Creek High School features a wide array of clubs and organizations including Key Club, a variety of foreign language-related clubs such as Spanish, Latin, German, French etc, a Gnip-Gnop club Ping-Pong, backwards, a Teenage Republicans' Club, Young Democrats' Club. Timber Creek Bands including orchestras strings and full, concert bands, Percussion Ensembles, Indoor Drumline.
The director of the Timber Creek High School Drama Department is Julie Shugg. Mrs. Shugg is also the sponsor of the school's large Drama Club. Officers include president Kristen Holder, vice president Mike Osbourne, secretary Ana Bechel, co-treasurers Chelsea Marquis and Tracy Parkhurst. It is dedicated to promoting student excellence by providing a rigorous academic and vocational program within a positive learning environment. It also provide quality career education to students who wish to pursue respectable careers.
