Beaverton
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. Beaverton is one such school in United States.
Beaverton High School, located in Beaverton, Oregon has a student population in grades 9 to 12 of over 2000. Opening in 1902, it is the oldest high school in the Beaverton School District. Beaverton High School has a diverse, talented and spirited student body. The staff is dedicated and constantly improving their skills through staff development. The Booster Club has a very involved set of parents willing to go the extra mile for the success of students and their activities. Together, each of these groups helps continue the traditions of developing within each student the skills, knowledge, and values necessary for continued intellectual growth, moral development and service to others that Beaverton High School always had. All School Board regular meetings and study sessions begin at 6 in the evening and are open to the public. Regular meetings are held at District schools and study sessions are held at the Administration Center.
Students receive a rigorous education well-grounded in traditional subjects with many opportunities to explore special interests. Their learning environments are enhanced with the latest technology and fully equipped library media centers. Each school also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities that enrich students' academic experience, including community service, athletics, music and the arts. In addition, district staff strives to instill in every student a love of learning that will last a lifetime. Beaverton goal is increase academic achievement district-wide with a special emphasis on literacy and mathematics gains for each student.
